SSC JHT ( Junior Hindi Translator ) _ Complete Information 2024

SSC JHT Age Limit (As on 01.08.2024)

Let's check out the official SSC JHT age as per the official notification below. 

  •  The minimum age limit is 18 years.
  • The maximum age limit is 30 years.
  • Age Limit as on 01.08.2024, i.e., candidates born not before 02.08.1994 and not later than 01.08.2006 are eligible to apply.

SSC JHT Educational Qualification 2024

Candidates who want to join for post codes ‘A’ to ‘C’(Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translation Officer/Junior Translator must fulfill any one of the following educational qualification given below -

o    Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level OR

o    Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination OR

o    Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of an examination OR

o    Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level OR 

o    Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level and

o    Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or 2 years’ experience as a translator from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India Undertaking.

SSC JHT Eligibility 2024: Nationality

Candidates must be either

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates who have come from the above-mentioned countries must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

SSC JHT Number of Attempts

The SSC board has not announced a fixed cap on the number of times a candidate can attempt for SSC JHT therefore a candidate can keep attempting for SSC JHT till he/she crosses the age limit.

SSC JHT Exam Pattern for Paper 1 

  • Paper 1 is a Computer Based Test having multiple-choice questions.
  • It consists of two sections – General English and General Hindi.
  • In Paper-I questions will be designed to test the candidates‟ understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms and ability to write the languages correctly and precisely.
  • The questions will be of degree level. 
  • Each section has 100 questions and the total time duration is 2 hours.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

SSC JHT Paper I Computer Based Test 

As per the SSC JHT Exam Pattern, in Paper I which is a computer-based test, the candidates will be asked questions from two sections. Section I will consist of 100 questions from General Hindi while section II will consist of 100 questions from General English. Each section will have a maximum of 100 marks. Therefore, Paper, I as a whole will be of 200 marks. 

SSC JHT Exam Pattern for Paper I Computer Based Test

  • For the SSC JHT Paper I computer-based test, there are two sections from which the questions are asked. Section I has questions from General Hindi with 100 questions which carry 1 mark each. Section II has questions from General English and has 100 questions each question carrying 1 mark. 
  • For every wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted
  • Marks scored by candidates in Computer Based Examination will be normalized and such normalized scores will be used to determine final merit and cut-off marks.
